The Board of Directors of the Canadian Women’s Hockey League (CWHL) has recently made the decision to discontinue operations as of May 1, 2019. The league is being shut down due to lack of funding.

i think that its important that we have a womans hockey league. i dont think that it should be it evenly the money because mens hockey is so much more popular so i think they should get a bit more money. they could sytart like a fund raiser for womans hockey or the NHL could help them out some how

Deletei think it is important to have a hockey team for girls because girls are always saying people are sexist so they might as well have there own team ya they should founded because it would be sad if they needed to end the team because of money problem i think we should donate more so they can continue

DeleteYes i do believe because some people did that girls cannot do what boys do. Yes we should save the league.NO WE SHOULD NOT SPLIT THE FUNDING BECAUSE THEY HAVE ENOUGH MONEY TO HAVE BOYS LEAGUE. Just let have the girls league because its not fair for girls not play.
ReplyDeleteIt's really sad. Imagine saying goodbye to your coaches, friends, people that you might never see again. I think it is important to have a hockey team for women because they were on a good path and they could have become a really big hockey team and inspire other women that they could do the same. It's a shame that a hockey team is breaking up to funds. I think what should be done is to have large companies shout them out. For example, NHL. In order to sit at the very front of a game, you must sponsor the hockey team for women.

DeleteI think it is important to have women's hockey team. Because it is very sad and disappointed that the team will be shut down. The players have been practice together for a long time and they all have the same dream. I think we can donate money to help their team be back and also I think funding should be split evenly between men and women hockey league.
ReplyDeleteI think its really important to have a women's hockey league. If the men can have one, so should women. They should have more fundraisers and get more public attention. I think the funding should be given a bit more to the women's league considering the fact that they need it. I also think that they should give the women's league because one way or the other people are more interested in the mes league.
ReplyDeleteI think that it is wrong to shut the women’s hockey league down. 1) because someone/something has to teach kids on women and men’s rights. 2) it is another discontinued sport this year. Sports weren’t made for men only, they were also made for women! If men can have hockey leagues, so should women. One way to solve this is buy putting up more fundraisers. If people can do it for the men’s league, then we can do it for the women’s league too!

DeleteIt is very important to have a women hockey league in Canada because there will always be some women that want to play hockey. It is also a way so there is more women sport in Canada. To save the league they could do a fundraiser to have more money. I think that the funding could be split but only if a league really need some money.

DeleteOf course it’s important, women should be = to men now so it shouldn't be stopping. I can’t believe this is even a problem. Hockey and other sports should be accessible to everyone. There’s a billion of ways to fix this. For example they could just give more money to the women's hockey team, and a little less to the NHL. And of course it should be split evenly, why shouldn't it be. If I could ask someone thats runs the whole Hockey organisations two thing it would be “Why wouldn't you keep funding the women's team, what makes women different or weaker, but the catch you can’t answer it’s because there girls.” I wonder what they would say?

DeleteI think there should be a women’s hockey league,because I think people should see that women can play just as good as men can. I mean people think some things men can do and not women. I think to protect the women’s league is to fundraise more so they can stay open and the women can continue playing. I definitely think that the funding should be split evenly, because if not it is like saying that they prefer one team over another, which is really unfair. It is like they want the women’s team to shut down, which is really mean if you ask me.
ReplyDeleteYes I do believe that we should have a Women's hockey league in Canada because if we did not then it would have been a shame for the Women's who made it in the team and can not play because it is being shut down. All of us girls and boys can have a fundraiser to not shut down the women's hockey league. Yes I do think that funding should be divided equally between a men's and women's team because both teams will be equal and it would be easier. Also if everything is equal there would be no situations in lack of funding.

DeleteThat's not fair, why would you shut down a woman's hockey league because there is not enough money put into it but put much more money than needed for the men's hockey league. You would think that gender equality counts for stuff like hockey too. So, in my opinion, yes you should definitely split the donation/funds for women's and men's hockey.
ReplyDeleteI think its important that we have a woman's hockey league in Canada. Winter is depressing, but hockey makes it a little more bearable for some people. Lots of Canadians watch hockey, including girls. So I think its important that we support the woman sport teams. The best way to save the league would be to just give them more money.I think the money should be split evenly between the two teams, and we would not have any problems.
ReplyDeleteI think that its very important to keep a woman's hockey league because it shows diversity. And why ruin what these ladies have been working for for so long. They've all made great friendships and bonds so why take that away. There are many ways to save the league. Because they're is a lack of funding to raise some money they could have bake sails , car washes, anything to help raise mopey. I think the money should absolutely be split between them because that's only fair.
