Martin Luther King Jr. was an American Hero.
He peacefully fought against segregation.
He also had a BIG DREAM that one day everyone would get along.

Do you think that his dream has been ACHIEVED?
What do you already know about Black History Month?

Explain.

  1. No I don not think his dream has been achieved because this world still haves a lot of hate. Also people are still bullying others that is a sign of fighting and being rude to others. I actually have never herd of Black history month. It is something new I should learn. But I know that Martin Luther King Jr. was a great man.

  2. I do not think Martin Luther King Jr.’s dream has been achieved. There’s a lot of people that still bully others and make fun of them for no reason. A couple of months ago people where purposely saying a word that sounded like the “N” word beacause they thought it would be a funny experience, but it certainly is not, u can end up getting yourself in a lot of trouble. I have never heard of black history month but i am looking forward to learn more. May he Rest In Peace.

Yes, I do think his dream has been achieved, because his dream was for everyone to be treated equally and that is what we have now. Everyone has the same, everyone gets the same, everyone gives the same. I know that Martin Luther King Jr. was a great man but I also know his house was blown up and he was assassinated which he did not deserve and that alone is a huge part of black history. Back then people were not treated the same just by the colour of their skin: their race.

  4. I feel like he’s dream has pretty much been achieved. There are definitely still people that have not changed their ways. Which I found was sad. I know alot about Black history month because I’ve done it for the last like..my whole elementary life. I find that it’s sad that people thought that this was ok!! It’s terrible. Where did we go wrong. Were influenced way to easily, and these things are examples of how stupid we can be. And Martin Luther King was one of the people that had the senses to realize this and make a BIG change. He started a lot of new changes for black people.

  5. I believe that Martin Luther King kind of achieved his goal. I mean some people have become nice to one another, but other people are not nice to other people. For example some people are nicer than others. There are definitely some people who don’t act nice to people so that doesn’t make Martin Luther’s King’s dream achieved.Black History Month is about respecting all races.

  6. i think that his dream was resolved over all. there are still problems in the world surrounding race. but its much better than what it used to be. also on the news it always has something to do with race and police

  7. I think hes accomplished his goal because today as you probably know black people and white people are all EQUAL. Obviously there are still some people that will be racist and not kind towards everyone but for the most part i think everything is fine now. What i already know about Black history month is that segregation was not okay and not fair. Also i find it ridiculous that black people wouldn't be allowed on the same bus or fountain or whatever it may be.

  8. I think his dream has been pretty much achieved. Because everybody is all equal, everybody can go to the same school, they don't have to sit in the back of the bus, and they have the right to vote. There might have some people that are not nice to others which doesn't make his dream achieved. I think in the Black History Month, everybody shows the respect to others.

  9. I personally think he partly accomplished his goal, colored people and white people can go in the same school, colored people can sit at the front of the bus, and they have equal rights in general, but the thing is, is that sometimes people are still racist to each other and I really don't think that is right. In fact a kid in our grade actually recently got suspended for calling an Asian kid a won ton soup.I think that is why black history month is still a thing, so that the people get reminded that there's nothing wrong with having a different color or being originated from a foreign country.

  10. I think that black segregation is still present today in many country. I think that there is still some in the United States and maybe even in Canada because there will always be someone that will be racist and whatever we do that person will always be there. There is also a lot of country that segregation is still a thing. I think that the dream of Martin Luther King Jr. is still not fully realise even if we do a lot of effort to have no more segregation. Don’t judge me but I never heard of black history month.

  11. I think that Martin Luther King’s big dream of no one caring about what the colour of your skin is has been achieved in most places, but not in some other places. For example, Canada and most places in the United States have mostly achieved this big dream, but there are a lot of places in the south of the United States that are still racist. I already know that Black History month was created in 1926 by Carter G. Woodson. Since 1976, the month of february has been designated black history month.

I do think his dream is achieved because the majority of us go into class every day and we are treated the same as if colors mean nothing. From the movie that we watched today, it's been a lot different because they had problem accepting different race while now-a-days we don't mind. I have heard black history month multiple times in elementary and the first time I heard about it was in grade 4.

  13. Yes and no. The world has made a lot of progress and we have learned from our past mistakes, but there are still lots of hate crimes. Although humanity is getting better, we still have a long ways to go before we achieve this goal. We started learning about black history in elementary school. At my school we learned about slavery, but that's pretty much it. Most of the stuff that I know is from books.

  14. I am not really think his dream is achieved, Of course, now we treated better than past, Example, We can go to same school, same spaces But we have still some people that not really think we should respect them. I was intrested about black history very long time, but I didn't know what is black history month well.

  15. I think his dream has been achieved. I think this because no matter our race or color, we have the right to speak act or write without restraint. We also all have the right to vote and to go to school with different people. I know that black history month is to honor black people and what they've suffered to be treated equally. That pretty much all I know about it
