This year St. Thomas High School is cracking down on cell phones and ear buds.
In fact, FRANCE has BANNED cell phones in school from Kindergarten to Grade 8.
How do you feel about this school rule?
What are the benefits of this rule? Downfalls?
Explain.
WWWWOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWW THIS IS CRAZY!!!!!!!

ReplyDeletehi friends!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWell firstly, I understand why phones are a distraction. If you’re in class your mind will automatically think “did I get a text” “did I finish that level in that game”... But don’t get me wrong phone’s are not a huge distraction (in my opinion) for example I can listen to music while doing my work, I can call my mom tell her how my days going… I feel like it’s a little extreme to ban cell phones. But on the other hand it is just until grade 8, before grade 8 you really don’t “need” a phone. So in my opinion I feel like cell phones shouldn’t be in school. You really don’t need them, school is to help you learn not to play games, text or call. That’ll conclude my blog about what I feel about cell phones in class.
ReplyDeleteMy weekend was really fun, on Friday night I went to church bible studies, then I came home to get ready for bed. On Saturday, I woke from THE BEST SLEEP EVER!!!!! And I had a really good dream, it was I was at a concert of my favourite hip-hop group, migos, I having fun and singing ALL THE LYRICS OF THEIR SONGS. Then of the member of the group call me to come to the stage. I was dancing and singing ALSO screaming off the top of my longs. At night, I went to an amazing African party. On Sunday, I went to church and went to a party, then came home and get ready for bed for school tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteI agree that they banned phones till grade 8 because theses days many people get distracted and don't do there work and fail and they will have to go to summer school. I also agree because not only distraction and bad grades but people get stuck with there phones and barely go outside. It is that now in our school they do not want to see kids have there phones in the hallway. I think that new rule is really good because it also relates to what is happening in Paris. The benefits are that everyone will do better in school not get distraction and they will socialize with people.
ReplyDeleteI can see what you mean, but I feel like it's a little extreme to ban them.
DeleteI mean, this is a shock to hear france is banning cell phones from schools, but it does make sense to not let the little kids not have phones. But for kids in high school they need them to contact their parents and other things like that, because a lot of people walk home and things can happen when there just walking around by themselves. I think that kids tho could benefit from this, because recent science shows that people are smarter when there phones aren't around, even if there turned off it’s not good. So this new strike in France could boost everyone's grades and I think that’s probably for the best, and kids without their phone’s can be better people, everyone should follow their example. But still maybe instead of taking scotch extreme measures, they should take their phones at the beginning of the day and make them sign a form that they keep with the phones so that no one can take somebody else's phone. At the end of the day the kids give their school ID and get there phone, that way no one can do things with there phone that there not supposed to but still be able to contact someone if there a problem when there walking home. So really it’s a bad idea and good idea.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion phones can be a distraction but when you think about it , it depends on the person if the person is someone who well always be thinking about there phone well of course the person well be on there phone all day in class but when you think about it all depends on the person if they want to listen in class or if they dont want to
ReplyDeleteso at the end, the person well probably see that they are getting bad grades so they will probably stop using there phones so i honestly think that phones should be allowed
I guess that I can agree that cellphones are indeed a distraction. But it definitely depends on the person using it and the way that they are using it. In my opinion phone should not be banned but still should not be aloud in the classroom during a class time. So honestly if you want to keep your phones keep them out of the classrooms.
ReplyDeleteI feel that this school rule kind of makes people appreciate other things more, I find this is because people aren't staring at a screen a lot of the time, so they distract people from the things that are really important. The downfall of this is that a cellphone could be used educationally. Concluding this I feel the benefits are that people will appreciate the really important things in life. Bonus: teachers won't have to worry about students cheating
ReplyDeleteIt make sense that people will appreciate more other thing then their phones.
DeleteI feel like banning cell phones as a good side because the teacher will know that students won’t cheat and will listen in class. But cell phones can be used to learn. It all depend if the student will use it correctly or not. I think it is not a good thing that cell phones are banned because if a student use is cell phones in class he will probably not get good grade so he will probably stop using is cell phones and if he doesn’t it is his grades.
ReplyDeleteI agree but also people get distracted when there on them
Deletehello
ReplyDeleteI think it’s a bad idea because I think that most kids don't have a phone until grade seven. So it wouldn’t affect most kids. But if i were a parent I would like to be assured that if there is any problems they can contact me. But I also think it’s a good idea if my child could bring their phone but only when there off school grounds. But the funny thing is while like schools in france are trying to elimanite electronics as most as possible, but most high schools are encouraging people to bring there computers phones etc. Those schools are called B.Y.O.D( bring your own device). So that’s why I disagree.
ReplyDeleteum well not bad use cell phones in class is bad because school need to focus on your work. But we are 7 grade and we know about we need focus on your work to not get bad marks. but Kindergarten can't control mind well, 7 grade we have lot of home work so maybe somebody go to library or somebosy got activities after school then we need to communicate with your parents.
ReplyDeleteI think cell phones should be aloud in school. In high school we start using the bus and some people take the publique bus. Its always good to have a way to communicate. As long as the cell phones are not in class it wont really affect the students. As long as the phones stay in the locker they should be fine.
ReplyDeleteI think it is a good law that the french government added.I think the reason is that they were scared that the new generation is all about technology and they might think that it can affect their education.Witch is a good thing that they did but it can have a downside to it because lets say that somebody gets in trouble and they have detention after school and they miss the bus. They will have to use the school telephone. As I was saying,if somebody is late and they are at a friends house and he or she needs to call their parents to pick them up and he will have to use the cell or house phone of somebody else. And if somebody needs to tell the time so they ask somebody what time is it and you disturb somebody,if they are doing something important for work or something or somebody is studying something for school.
ReplyDeleteI think that France banning cellphones from kindergarten to the eighth grade is both dumb and smart at the same time. It is dumb because some students may need their phones to call or text someone in case of an emergency. Students may also feel like the rules are way too strict and unkind. However, it is also kind of smart because phones can be a huge distraction and they have the internet, which gives students access to almost anything, including sites they are not allowed to be on. I don't agree with completely banning them, like they have done in France, but I think that the rules we have at St. Thomas, where you are only allowed to bring your phone out when its not class time are better.
ReplyDeletei think it's good that france has banned cellphones in france because cellphones are just distractions
